A WHITEHAVEN church minister is tackling a 60-mile sponsored walk to help his son start film studies in Jerusalem.

Pastor John Campbell, of Woodbank Community Church, is preparing to walk from Millom to Silloth over four days next week.

He aims to raise £500 for his son Luke, who is going to Jerusalem next month to study at Kings School of Media.

Luke, 29, currently works as a TV editor at United Christian Broadcasters (UCB) in Stoke-on-Trent. He has created a short online video saying the opportunity to study in Jerusalem will enable him to "learn storytelling with other people".

Luke is fundraising to pay for his next venture.

"What I'm trying to do is help him with all the costs of visas and things to get him out there," said his father, Mr Campbell.

The pastor has been training for about five weeks. "I'm trying to do several walks in a week. My only problem has been my footwear; I've gone back to using my old boots, they're more comfy than my new ones!"

The walk, over four days, will start at Millom to Ravenglass, onto Whitehaven, then Maryport and Silloth.
