Challenges by members of Whitehaven's Fit 4 Life group look set to help raise thousands of pounds.
Based at the town's Senhouse Centre, the fundraising event saw people take to exercise machines to cover a variety of distances to test their fitness.
Fit 4 Life, which is a social enterprise, is open to those over 50, or who have been referred by their GP, who have suffered from chronic conditions such as heart disease, diabetes and strokes.
One of the group members, Albert Adams, completed his challenge to cover the length of Windermere in a rowing machine.
Dougie Pomfret, manager at Fit 4 Life, said: "Albert suffered severe head injuries following involved a hit and run. Over the years, he has been coming to us twice a week to help him rehabilitate.
"Fit 4 Life offers a place for people to exercise with people of a similar age and condition, where they will feel comfortable.''
And Dougie added: "We run exercise classes for people with cardiac related health problems, lung diseases and high blood pressure. Our highly-trained staff look after people who have been referred from physios and doctors."
Money will also be raised this Saturday by members based at the Maryport Fit 4 Life group.
