A man who attacked a woman in her own home has been jailed.

Gareth John Sharpe, 26, admitted the offence, which took place on September 16, when he appeared before magistrates in Workington.

Sharpe, of Church View, Egremont, was jailed for 120 days and told not to contact the victim or enter her home unless he is invited. He must also pay £100 in compensation and costs of £200.

Sharpe also admitted damaging internal doors belonging to the victim on the same day. He was given a further 60-day sentence, which he will serve concurrently, and told to pay £200 in compensation.

Magistrates also gave Sharpe a seven-day sentence for not paying a fine of £115 which was issued on June 24 this year, which he will also serve concurrently.
