POLICE are investigating an alleged assault causing grievous bodily harm on Tangier Street, Whitehaven at the weekend.
A 21-year-old male was struck from behind by an unknown person, he suffered a fractured cheek bone and eye socket.
The incident happened between 12-2am on Sunday morning (31 January).
Anybody with information should call Cumbria Police on 101.
