A man ended up in court after breaching a restraining order – by sending his former partner letters, cards and even flowers.

Christopher Stainton, 53, committed the breach on a number of dates throughout September and this month, when he sent the items to his ex-partner.

The contents of the letters and cards were not disclosed in court.

Stainton, of Brisco Mount, Egremont, admitted seven offences of breaching the restraining order.

the order was given to him in 2015 and banned him from contacting his former partner.

He appeared at the magistrates’ court in Carlisle yesterday, and was remanded in custody ahead of his sentencing at Carlisle Crown Court on November 11.
