COPELAND'S MP has called on his constituency to get involved with a national drive to donate blood.

More than 2,300 people are active blood donors in Copeland but Jamie Reed wants more people to sign up as part of the Missing Type campaign, which was launched last year to combat blood shortages in England.

He said: “Thirty-four percent of residents in Copeland are registered as organ donors, but only three percent are blood donors. I encourage all constituents who are able to do so, to consider helping others by signing up to become a blood and organ donor.

“Together we can help to ‘fill in the gaps’.”
