Members of Lowca ARLFC have now installed a defibrillator bought following the tragic death of a darts player.
Club members had raised £1,500 towards the life-saving equipment after a man, from a West Cumbrian darts team, suffered a heart attack last year while playing against the Lowca darts side.
Bill Armstrong, who is honorary vice-president of the club, along with club members Alan Johnson, Paul Martin, and Andrew Martin, walked 10 miles from Cockermouth to Lowca, and were supported by the community who fill in many sponsor forms.
A further £500 was awarded from Cumbria County Council's Local Members Scheme towards the defibrillator.
Bill said: "We are now registered with the ambulance service for public use.
"Thanks to Cumbria County Council, Copeland Health Care and Community Services, Lauren Watson of the North West Ambulance Service, and everyone who sponsored us for all their help."
