A CARING eight-year-old Mirehouse girl has raised over £350 for a cancer charity.

Charlotte McGregor, of Tomlin Avenue, decided to cycle the 10-mile round trip from her home to the Hartley's shop in Egremont, to collect the cash for Cancer Research.

She previously had nine inches cut from her hair to donated to the Little Princess Trust which provides wigs for youngsters who have lost their hair through cancer treatment.

Her mum, Rebecca, said: "Charlotte had said she had felt good helping with her hair so wanted to do something else. She said she didn't like feeling poorly herself, and since cancer affects a lot of people, she wanted to raise money for that charity.

"She had set herself a target of raising £50, so was speechless when she realised her final total.''

Charlotte was accompanied on her ride by dad, Liam McGregor, sister Lola, and granddads, Charlie McGregor and George Johnston.

She was greeted at the Hartley's shop by owner, Mark Richardson, who donated some money, as well as provided the cycling team with free ice creams.

Rebecca added: "We are really very proud of her. She is already thinking of her next fundraiser and has told us to 'watch this space!'''
