He is seeking amateur cooks to bring their favourite cakes, pastries and tray-bakes to take part in contests held in Whitehaven and Beckermet on June 25.
Jean-Christophe will then be judging and helping to sell the produce to raise money to provide practical equipment for future Cumbrian flood victims.
He will be appearing at Richardson’s Wine between 11am to 1pm judging and selling cakes, before heading to The White Mare at Beckermet.
Gerard Richardson, of Richardson’s Wines, said: “The White Mare has just been named Cumbrian Pub of the year and along with Jean-Christophe they are hosting a village tea party to which everyone is invited.
“The idea is that people will bring in cakes and pastries of their own for judging by Jean-Christophe, and for sale. Some will also be prepared by the resident head chef Jon Fell.’’
Jean-Christophe, who recently announced he was to be a father again at 55, will be signing copies of his book at both locations.
He said: “I have many wonderful friends in Whitehaven and I always enjoy finding an excuse to come back, but last year’s floods were horrendous to watch.
“I called Gerard and said we have to do something to help and this is a great way of getting the community involved as well.”
