Around £30,000 is needed to fund a holiday caravan in memory of an Egremont teenager.

The family of Danica Maxwell, who died in 2010, is aiming to raise the cash to provide children with cancer a place to relax in between treatments.

John Maxwell, Danica's dad, said: "We know first hand how much that matters because we were helped. It means a lot after watching your child go through this horrendous treatment."

Danica, who set up the charity Danica's Dream Fund, died following a brave battle with three brain tumours aged 15.

The Masonic Charitable Foundation recently donated £4,000 towards the caravan.

John said he is appealing to the public, as well as local businesses and Sellafield, to support this latest fundraising project.

He said: "I have set a target of £30,000 for the caravan but the more we get the better the caravan we can buy.

"We took a picture of Danica when she was on holiday at a holiday caravan as she was going through her treatment.

"That family break really helped to put a smile on her face."

Danica's Dream Fund, which has raised over £150,000 money to help seriously-ill children, continues to collect from public donations.

John added that he wished to thank Knitted Dolls on Facebook; Coleridge Stores; West Lakes Academy; Cumbrian Scooter Rally Club; Frizington Whitestars; Rikki Dillon; Sarah and Liz from Southport and Joe's Salon.

Thanks also to Cleator Moor Coop; LLWR; Lloyd O'Neil, Sandra Chester, Allison and Rihanna Maxwell; Ryan Green and friends; Janice Shepherd; Lynn Kirkbride, Paul Wynne, The Royal Yew; Wath Brow Chippy and Maxwell Flooring.
