Vampires, witches and skeletons emerged from the shadows for a spooktacular party at Whitehaven Library.
The ghoulish event saw children dress in their scariest costumes before taking part in Halloween activities.
Around 20 youngsters, aged five to 11, designed a 'treat' bag, played 'snatch apples' with doughnuts and made stain-glass monsters to hang in their homes.
Rachel Wilkinson, a Copeland librarian, said: "All the children made a brilliant effort with their outfits and had a great time.''
