Tickets are still available to check out darts legend Phil Taylor at Whitehaven Civic Hall on Saturday.

Taylor, 16-time world champion and widely regarded as the greatest darts player of all time, will be on stage at 7pm.

Nicknamed The Power, Taylor has been in the news recently after he announced that he would retire next January.

He revealed on Friday night he will be quitting the sport after the 2018 World Championship.

At 56 and with every achievement in the sport ticked off, he has decided he will turn himself off after the Alexandra Palace showpiece.

Taylor – one of the country’s most popular players – can expect a raucous send-off for the rest of 2017.

Commitments in events such as the Premier League will allow darts fans all over the country to say farewell to the man responsible for the current popularity darts now has.

Sixteen world championships are only part of the story, too.

A professional since 1986, Taylor has won 15 World Matchplays, 11 Grands Prix, six Grand Slams and is into triple figures for overall titles.

Added to that the first televised nine-dart finish and 18 more in PDC competition, no one – not even the swashbuckling Michael Van Gerwen – can stand aside Taylor’s achievements.

Tickets cost £25 or £40 for VIP, while a sponsors table can be bought for £450. They are available from the Civic Hall or via the website at www.thesolwayhall.com
