ORGANISERS of the Fun for All day in Cleator Moor this summer are on the hunt for funds for next year’s event.

Phoenix Youth Project (PYP) now needs £3,000 to make next year’s event happen and is looking for support from local businesses.

Project manager, Paul Rowe, thanked all those who donated to this year’s event which drew hundreds into the town for a day of inflatable rides and fairground rides.

But, he added that finding funding for the event each year is “getting harder and harder” and PYP is already preparing for next year.

Just under £1,900 was raised at the event which will be used to fund activities across the three youth centres and next year’s annual fun day.

This year’s event was funded by Cleator Moor Town Team (£1,000), Nisa (£400), Cumberland Building Society (£250), Ennerdale Brewery (£250), and Cleator Moor Masonic Centre (£120).

Paul said: “The remaining £3,000 plus was made up from funds raised at last year’s and this year’s event.

“This leaves us with a quarter of next year’s event funded and we will be seeking around £3,000 to make next year’s event happen.

“With this in mind if any local businesses wish to support next year’s event please do not hesitate to get in contact.”

This year’s event was the second PYP fun day to have an entry charge - this year’s charge was £4 for adults. Paul said this was introduced last year to make the event more sustainable in the future.

He added: “The event for the second year had a small entrance charge as we are aiming to make the event self-sufficient in the future as gaining funding for the event gets harder and harder year upon year.”
