A PACKED day of fun next week will help an eight-year-old with a rare condition speak to her friends and family.

At just 18 months old, Lily Tyson was diagnosed with Rett syndrome – a rare genetic condition which causes physical and mental disabilities.

Her mum, Kirsty says the biggest and most frustrating aspect of the condition for Lily is her not being able to communicate verbally.

But, a £12,000 Eye-Gaze machine, which Lily uses at school, could see the youngster finally be able to communicate with her friends and family.

The fund has now gathered more than £4,500 in two months. On Friday, Darling Manor in Whitehaven, will host full half-term day of activities to help the youngster reach her target.

Rachelle Chambers of Darling Manor said: "Lily is a regular little darling at the manor and I have always had a special place in my heart for her. Through this fundraising Lily has a chance to get a computer to enable her to communicate with friends, family and her mum, something we all take for granted.

"This will be such an amazing opportunity for her and I am pleased to say they are around half way there. There are many ways in which you can help them reach their target."

The day will feature craft with a mermaid on land from 1.30-2.30pm, storytime with Cinderella and tower princess from 3.30-4.30pm and a party with a princesses, DJ Tony Pearce & Cumbria Superheroes Spiderman from 5.30-6.30pm.

There will also be an opportunity to to win a party worth £300. There will be 59 numbers available and once all numbers are sold the winner will be the bonus ball from the lottery the following week.

Tickets are £5 for the events per child and available at Darling Manor, Queen Street, Whitehaven.
