A range of coffee designed to help homeless people get back on their feet is expanding to cater for businesses.

Egremont homeless hostel, Calderwood House, launched its own social enterprise coffee range earlier this year.

Now it is available to purchase in large packs for commercial offices and cafes.

In addition to the 100g bags the residents prepare for household use, the hostel will prepare 1kg and 5kg packs to appeal to businesses.

“Every penny made from Calderwood coffee keeps a roof over the head of our homeless in West Cumbria,” said Rachel Holliday, the hostel’s founder and Cumbrian Woman of the Year.

“Our staff and residents have been working hard to prepare for the launch of the bigger packs which will see more coffee markets open up to us.

“For every cup of coffee bought, you give a new chance of a fresh start for many.

“I believe that investment in homelessness works, and I’m living proof.”

The new range was launched at a drop-in coffee tasting session in the Innovation Centre at Westlakes Science and Technology Park on Tuesday.
