A donation of £1,000 has been made to the North Lakes Foodbank following fundraising by The Charlie and Kathleen Dunnery Children's Fund (CKDCF).

This will now become an annual donation to help support the Foodbank's advice worker.

Set up in 2002, CKDCF is dedicated to children's health and wellbeing in Cumbria. It provides grants and charitable donations to organisations which support local children in need.

Jessie Hendry Gooding, project manager of North Lakes Foodbank, said: "We are delighted to be in partnership with CKDCF and are extremely grateful that this wonderful charity is now supporting us.

"This very generous donation will go towards our fundraising for our Foodbank advice worker based at the Egremont Foodbank.

"This role offers invaluable advice to our clients to help them alongside the food they may receive from us, a third of these people are children within families from the local areas.

"We are now a third of the way towards our target to fund the Foodbank advice worker, perhaps readers would be able to support this fundraising appeal so that we can continue offering a 'wrap around service' to people in need.”

Place to donate food are Whitehaven: Morrisons, Tesco, New Life Church, Jacobs (West Lakes), Hertel, Whitehaven Golf Club, Amec (West Lakes), BEC (West Lakes) Copeland Council, and Cleator Moor Co-op.

As well as Egremont Foodbank Centre at the town's Co-op, St Mary's Church, De Lucy Centre, West Lakes Academy and St Mary's and St Michael's Church.
