MOUTH-WATERING pancakes were flipped and sold by entrepreneurial youngsters on Shrove Tuesday to raise money for charity.

After a £50 donation, pupils at St Patrick's Catholic Primary School in Cleator Moor are busy making money as part of a competition called Bright Stars.

The team has also made keyrings and is organising a bake-off and World Book Day events for the school, after funding from Sellafield.

Sarah Grears, the school's business manager, said: "The team sold pancakes this week with lots of delicious toppings. It was huge success and a great team effort.

"The team would like to thank all parents and children for supporting this event."

Further fundraising events are planned over the coming weeks and the money made will be split between Cumbrian flood victims and the school.
