A choir who reduced anxious passengers to tears of emotion at Charles de Gaulle Airport following the Paris terrorist attacks last year are to return to perform in the French capital next month.

Members of Singing School of Cumbria have been invited back to Disneyland Paris and will fly out on Friday, November 11.

The choir was due to sing at the park last year but it had to close due to the attacks which killed 130 people.

On their way home, they sang an emotional rendition of As Long As There’s Christmas in the departure lounge which was met with applause.

This year, the group will take part in workshops and three performances and will sing Christmas songs in French, Christmas carols and Disney songs.

Principal Amy Pearce said: “It’s nice to be invited back. Even though we enjoyed it last year, it still had a bit of a sting. It’s nice to be able to go back and erase the memories of last year. I’m really excited, but a bit nervous.

“The choir has worked really hard again and they deserve to be able to show off what they’ve done.”

Most of the choir’s members are from Workington with some from Whitehaven.

A group of 40, which includes 15 choir members and parents, will fly out to Paris.

Singing School of Cumbria put on a special performance at Workington’s Helena Thompson Museum last year with the songs they would have sung in Paris.
