A group of talented singers have been singing their hearts out in an emotional charity campaign.
Beth McGarry, who runs the Whitehaven-based Sing Stars group, gathered 81 of her members - aged three to 63 - to record a fundraising single, with proceeds going to Breast Cancer Now.
Beth was moved to launch the campaign as a member of her adult choir, Jacqui Quinn, from Whitehaven, has fought breast cancer and was given the all-clear last year.
"It was absolutely fantastic to have everyone together for such a good cause," said Beth. "It was a fun atmosphere, but emotional at the same time as everyone who was there has had lives touched by cancer at some point."
Jacqui added: "I was affected by breast cancer personally, and also lost my mam Helen to breast cancer, so fundraising for research is a campaign I am passionate about."
The group donned campaign T-shirts for the recording of the two-song CD, featuring Abba's I Have a Dream - a song that inspired Jacqui during her treatment - and Sing, recorded by Gary Barlow for the Commonwealth Games.
The CD will be launched with a Big Pink Night at Whitehaven Civic Hall on May 21, featuring a live performance and other fundraising activities. Beth extended thanks to all the performers; to sound engineer Lee Shackley for volunteering his time; and to Anne Kelly, at Whitehaven Civic Hall, for donating the venue free of charge for the launch.
To pre-order the CD (cost £3.50) or to book tickets for the Big Pink Night, call Beth on 07939546591.
