SINGING sensation Jolan Gidney-Craigen is hoping to win the hearts of celebrity coaches on The Voice this weekend.
The 22-year-old will be appearing on BBC 1's hit singing contest on Saturday night featuring celebrities Will.i.am, Ricky Wilson, Paloma Faith and Boy George.
Jolan performed Wishing Well by Terence Trent D'Arby, which he claimed was "the perfect choice".
The Moor Row performer is unable to reveal the outcome of his audition but says he had an "amazing" experience.
And he said he had "amazing comments" from all the judges.
This will be Jolan's second appearance on the spinning-chair singing contest.
He reached the blind auditions in February 2014 but didn’t get any turns, which he said was "disheartening".
He took a step back from performing following the sudden death of his mother Joanne Craigen later that year.
"Reflecting on it now, a lot has happened, with my mum passing away. I realised I wasn't ready for it then," he said.
"Recently, I've thought why not try for it again, so I went for it. It was so nerve-wracking but I felt more ready this time and I felt I'd found my voice. I think my nerves were calmer this time."
"It was exciting to see the new coaches Paloma Faith and Boy George. They are all geniuses and bring different aspects to the show, " he said.
Jolan said he has performed songs by Terence Trent D'Arby in acoustic sets locally. He is also a "massive Prince fan", and recently held a Prince tribute night in memory of his mum.
Watch Jolan's audition on The Voice on BBC 1 this Saturday from 7.15pm.
