Cumbria police wants to recruit new officers.

The force has launched a recruitment drive this week and is due to host open evenings across the county at the beginning of next month.

The constabulary says the new constables will play a key role in serving their local community whilst being provided with an exciting opportunity to help tackle crime and antisocial behaviour through community policing.

These roles are required across Cumbria but more so in the west and south.

Police and Crime Commissioner Peter McCall said: “I am really pleased that we are in the position to recruit police officers. I would urge people if they are interested to come along to one of the open evenings to hear firsthand about what the role involves and the exciting career ahead of them should they decide and be accepted to join.

“Cumbria Constabulary is a great force working hard to protect the people of Cumbria. Policing is a fantastic career with many challenges and opportunities.

“I hope that many people will come along to the open evenings to find out more about this essential and valued public service."

Superintendent Gary Slater added: “We are pleased to be offering the opportunity for people to apply to be a police constable with Cumbria Constabulary.

“We want to hear from people who have integrity and who are interested in working hard to improve their local area for all people. Policing is a challenging but rewarding career path with many opportunities for career progression.

“We are looking to recruit intelligent, committed people to join our excellent team.”
