Danish folk group Basco have a Cumbrian date on their upcoming UK tour.

The four-piece outfit appear at Florence Arts Centre, in Egremont, on Sunday June 11, in support of their brand-new release, Interesting Times.

The band, made up of Hal Parfitt-Murray, Andreas Tophoj, Ale Carr and Anders Ringaard, take inspiration from Nordic, Celtic and American traditions.

Basco's music has been described as complex and varied, from hard hitting, high speed bursts of music right through to sweet and melancholy tunes of love.

Hal Parfitt-Murray, the vocalist, violinist and mandolin player, says: "Whether we want to or not, the re is no escaping it. We live in the sort of times that will be referred to by historians as 'interesting'. Change is coming."

The Egremont date is the final night of the short tour of Northern England, and will feature plenty of new material from the latest record, due for release on Friday June 2.

Their last album, The Remarkable Return of Old Man Basco, was short-listed for the prestigious Nordic Music Prize in 2014 - the first time a folk string band was nominated.

The rest of the year will see tours with both the mighty singer Jullie Hjetland and The Danish Radio Big Band, and a busy touring schedule with concerts in Scandinavia, UK and around Europe.

Tickets for the Egremont show, which starts at 7.30pm, are available from the venue's box office.
