Andrea Dockeray, development manager of WEDCU, explained the benefits of using the payroll deduction scheme with the credit union were access to savings accounts and low cost loans and free life insurance, as well as being part of a community, with access to other services.
She said: “The credit union is looking forward to working with Sellafield Unions and Sellafield Ltd, and welcoming new members to our payroll deduction scheme.”
Employees who sign up for the payroll deduction scheme can apply for an instant loan of up to £500 at an interest rate of two per cent.
"The minimum repayment is three months and loan must be repaid in full before another can be applied for."
Whitehaven, Egremont and District Credit Union encourages its members to develop a regular pattern of saving, to build a reserve which they may use for holidays, school uniforms, Christmas or just a rainy day.
