New surgeries to allow members of the public to raise issues with councillors will be held in the Market Hall.

Egremont town councillors are set to visit November’s farmers, craft and fairtrade market to give residents the opportunity to share matters of concern.

Councillors will be able to offer help and advice on a variety of issues.

“Hopefully people will come and tell us their issues,” said Lena Hogg, chair of the town council.

“It can be about anything from housing problems to getting your bins sorted.

“We used to always do surgeries but it fell off because we weren’t getting enough people coming. We’re hoping to get notices out there and get it on our website and Facebook page to let people know.”

The town council is responsible for providing numerous services to the people of Egremont. This includes offering advice, guidance and assistance to those in need.

Consultation will also run between October 24 and December 5 on potential changes to the electoral boundaries. A drop-in event is to be held in the Market Hall from 7pm until 9pm on October 31.

This will allow the public to view the areas affected and give their opinions on the suggestions.

Any changes to ward boundaries will come into effect at the next Parish Council elections in May 2019.

Egremont Farmers, Craft and Fairtrade market is held on the third Friday of each month in the Market Hall.

The town council meets at 6pm on the third Tuesday of most months and the public is welcome to attend. To find out more visit www.egremonttowncouncil.co.uk or contact the Market Hall office on 01946 820254.
