FOUR town councillors visited North Lakes Food Bank to help fill food packages for schoolchildren.

The councillors - Michael McVeigh, Neil Ferguson, John Burns and Leigh Mossop - along with retired town clerk Margaret Woodburn gave up a few hours of their time to help out at the Workington centre.

They filled over 100 bags which will provide over 1,500 meals to children over the school holidays.

The foodbank provides an invaluable source of food to families in Egremont. Egremont food bank centre is based in ‘The Hub’ at The Meeting Place from 1pm to 3pm on Tuesdays and Fridays.

Collection points for people to donate food and a list of the main needs can be found at: Co-op, Egremont Foodbank Centre, St Mary’s Catholic Church, De Lucy Centre and St Mary’s & St Michael’s Church.
