Copeland mayor Mike Starkie will hold a public meeting in Egremont on Wednesday.

Residents can raise their own questions and issues with the mayor as well as hear updates on Copeland Council's latest projects at Egremont Rugby League Club from 6pm.

It is the second of four events across the borough this month, following a meeting in Millom last week.

"When I was elected as mayor I made a pledge that the council will be open and transparent, and be accountable to the public," said Mr Starkie.

"I've always made public meetings a priority, and those that have been held in the past have been well attended with a number of interesting and challenging questions raised.

"I'd urge everyone to attend to raise and discuss the issues that are priorities for their neighbourhoods and home towns."

Further meetings will take place at Cleator Moor Civic Hall on Tuesday, September 19 and at The Beacon Portal, Whitehaven, on Tuesday, September 26. Both meetings begin at 6pm.

A West Cumbria Mining representative will also be in attendance to provide an update on the firm's plans to extract coking coal with a processing plant in Whitehaven, which is set to create over 500 jobs.

Following a presentation from Mr Starkie, the floor will be opened up for questions from the public.

If you would like a question answered but would prefer not to raise it in public, you can email in advance to communications@copeland.gov.uk
