A coastal conference will be held at Muncaster Castle to bring together people interested in improving the coast - and places are still available.

Organised by the Colourful Coast Partnership, the aim is to enhance the coast, share successes and discuss the challenges that living and working on the coast can provide.

The free conference takes place between 2pm and 5pm on Thursday, November 17. Places must be booked in advance.

"It's a great chance for everyone involved with the coast across the borough to get together, learn from each other, share their knowledge and celebrate this unique stretch of coast," said Colourful Coast Project Officer's Sophie Badrick.

"Copeland's coast is constantly changing, which provides problems and opportunities. We've got a diverse group of speakers so I'm sure there will be some lively debates."

The conference is set to include an update from West Cumbria Mining on their plans, a presentation on how the Copeland Coast is inspiring young architects and information on a new national scheme to record marine species found along the coast.

The Colourful Coast is a partnership of the National Trust, the Land Trust, Natural England, the RSPB, Copeland Borough Council, Cumbria County Council and local parish councils.
