AFTER gold medal success in Rio and the Tour of Britain inspiring the nation, Cleator Moor is gearing up for its very own cycling festival.

More details have been revealed ahead of next week's event and cyclists can now enter the festival's centrepiece race, the Tour de Moor, online.

The mammoth cycle starts at 1pm on Sunday, Sepember 18 and starts at Cleator Moor town square.

The route offers some short, sharp climbs and the opportunity for spectators to view riders at Steel Brow or as they ride through the town as part of the lapped route.

More than 100 riders are expected to take part in the race, which ius now in its third year.

The festival starts on Friday, September 16, with a Puddings and Prosseco ride starting at 6pm.

This starts and finishes at the Civic Hall, riders have the choice of completing two distances 10 or 17 miles. The event finishes with puddings and Prosecco at the Civic. Entry for this ride is £10

On the Saturday, is a Sky Ride local event which starts at the Copeland Bowling Centre at 1pm. This is a guided ride which heads out towards Ennerdale. Entry to this ride is free but is restricted to 30 places.

This year the event is being supported by Cyclewise Cockermouth, British Cycling, Copeland Borough Council, Cleator Moor Civic Hall and Cleator Moor Town Council.
