COPELAND children are being invited to take part in this year's Summer Reading Challenge - The Big Friendly Read.
The area's libraries will be marking 100 years since the birth of Roald Dahl, by encouraging youngsters to borrow books over the holidays.
It is free to all children between the ages of four and 11 years, designed for all reading abilities, and will start on July 9.
Whitehaven Library will also be holding a Willy Wonka pyjama drama event on Tuesday, August 9 from 2.30-3.30pm.
The event is suitable for children up to seven years old. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Booking is essential.
Further drop-in Summer Reading Challenge craft activities suitable from ages four-11 years, will be held at Whitehaven Library.
These will be held on Tuesday, August 2; Tuesday August 16; August 23 and August 30 from 2-4pm. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
