A SHOWCASE of talent will be performing at Whitehaven Golf Club to help support under-privileged children.

The concert, held on Sunday, May 22 from 5pm, will include around 50 dancers from the Ignite Dance Academy.

Local performers Zoe Warren, Sophia Brenan, Amy Morton and Kim Fisher will be also be taking part.

All proceeds from the event are being donated to Pegasus Children’s Trust which supports street children, and youngsters at risk, in South Africa.

Whitehaven's Ignite dancers will also be working closely with the Dance for All school in Cape Town to exchange ideas.

Judy Westwater, founder of the Pegasus Children's Trust, who will be there on the night, said: “We have projects throughout South Africa and many of them use music, dance and drama to help the little ones cope with some of the awful experiences they have had to deal with.

"I am delighted to be able to foster this relationship with Ignite Dance Academy and any money raised from this event will go directly into the projects.”

Judy has recently been nominated for a Points Of Light award by David Cameron and was previously nominated for a Woman of the Year award.

Sue Skinner, co-principal of Ignite, said: “We are really excited to showcase the talent of our students. They are all dedicated and really hard working. We are really proud to be helping Judy and her work.

"Not only will our students get to be great performers but by developing awareness of projects such as these they can see how dance has a wider role to play in our communities.”
