HUNDREDS of pounds have been donated to young Wath Brow Hornets players who are set to go on international tours this year.

The local rugby league club sends players to locations such as France, Spain, Italy, South Africa and Canada to compete and this year the council gave £800.

Hornets’ players received £600 from Cleator Moor Town Council to help fund last year’s international tours which cost thousands to organise.

Coun Charles Moores said: “I think it’s actually great that we have local lads who are playing at that level. It’s good to to see that, in a small community like this, that we have players who are good enough.”
