The latest in motoring technology was on show during a fun-filled event which showcased a range of Cumbrian car dealerships.

The Cumbria Motability Motorshow took over Workington town centre on Saturday, giving locals and visitors the chance to look at new car models in a relaxed and fun environment.

As well as the range of cars on display there was also a family fun day running alongside it.

The show was organised by the motors team from CN Group, publishers of The Whitehaven News, and CN Events, in partnership with Allerdale Council and Workington Town Council.

Stephen McCullough, CN Group advertising director, said: "It all went really well and it has been an incredibly busy day."

On display were the latest offerings from Lloyd BMW and Mini; B & H Motors with a collection of Fiat cars; Vauxhall and Peugeots from Dobies in Workington; J Edgar & Son of Frizington brought their Nissan collection and Stan Palmer of Cockermouth showcased Honda cars.

Families could also take advantage of a range of music and entertainment, including face painting, arts and crafts, balloon modelling and fairground rides.

Professor Pumpernickel also made an appearance with his science show as well as street entertainment provided by the Bread And Butter Theatre Company.

Ian Glendinning, the general manager of Workington-based Border Cars, took along a collection of Skoda, Mitsubishi and Fiat cars to display.

He said: "It's been an absolutely fantastic day, the customers have given us really good responses and got involved. It's a good chance for people to touch and feel the cars which is something they might not normally get the chance to do.

"These events are great because you're taking the products to the customers. On a Saturday they might not normally be going looking for a car but because they're in the town centre they get a chance to look at the products."

It is the 14th in the series of motorshows hosted by the CN motors team.
