Students who are unsure what to do after receiving their exam results can get advice from local employers at an upcoming careers event.

Take Two - Exploring Other Routes is aimed at students who may not have achieved the exam results they needed, are unsure of the opportunities available to them, or feel they are on the wrong career path.

Students will have the opportunity to speak to apprentices, graduates and staff from some of the major employers across west Cumbria.

Tom Pritt, sector engineering manager at Jacobs, one of the organisers behind the event, said: "Jacobs is delighted to announce that Take Two - Exploring Other Routes is taking place at Energus.

"The event will bring together some great career advice groups with several local employers to share relevant and valuable guidance.

"We hope this additional support will be helpful to local students as they start their search for employment.”

Organisations on hand to offer advice will include: Sellafield Ltd, United Utilities, Copeland Borough Council, Balfour Beatty, University of Cumbria, Gen2 and Inspira.

Youngsters will benefit from workshops on interview and presentation techniques, CV building and aptitude test training.

There will also be sessions designed to boost confidence and overcome fear of failure.

The event takes place at Energus from 9am on Wednesday, August 30.
