Could you give a home to one of these dogs? A rescue centre is looking for caring owners to look after abandoned pets.

Eden Animal Rescue, near Penrith, has a number of dogs which are ready to move in with new families. The charity, which has been looking after animals since 1995, is trying to re-home the group, which includes a border collie, springer spaniel and Patterdale terrier.

Benson, a two-year-old male Staffordshire bull terrier, is looking for a responsible owner, who will keep him away from other dogs.

“He is super affectionate and adores all people,” said Jaquie Stobbart, from Eden Animal Rescue.

“This is very typical of the breed. He does not like other dogs and has to be kept away from them.”

Black lurcher Rocky, who is 18 months old, is also looking for the opportunity to move in with loving adults. Jaquie said: “ He has waited far too long for somebody to give him the chance he so deserves and would learn and thrive out of the kennel environment.”

Spot, a 10-year-old border collie, is wary of strangers so is searching for a patient, preferably female, owner to take her in.

Six-year-old, black Patterdale terrier Jet requires a home with no cats, dogs or older children.

And Louie, a four-year-old male pug/chihuahua, is looking for a new owner who doesn’t have another dog, but he has lived with a cat before. Five-year-old Tigger, a Staffordshire bull terrier/American bulldog/rottweiler, has lived with both cats and dogs. Jaquie explained: “He is a handsome, big, soft lump!”

Springer spaniel Stanley, who is three years old and “a lovely boy”, does not like to be around other dogs so is looking for a home which suits his needs.

Two shar pei – Lincoln and Lillian – are looking for homes after their owner passed away.

Lincoln is three years old and can be a little quiet around strangers at first while Lillian, who is four, is a “lovely, friendly girl”.
