After rocking out Florence Arts Centre earlier this year, The Lol Goodman Band are back in Egremont with a new album to showcase.

The established blues guitarist and his band return on Friday September 23 to perform the material live for the first time at the venue.

Goodman and the band have been playing live for more than 40 years, from drummer Jon Firth's stint with Northern Soul outfit The Powerhouse in the mid-1960s, to supporting the likes of Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix and playing with Elvis' backing band, The Jordanaires.

The current line-up has been together for just under 10 years and are regarded as one of the best live blues acts in the country, playing new originals inspired by the greats.

The Lol Goodman Band played at Florence Arts Centre in May and brought the house down, and were asked to return as soon as possible. In the meantime they have signed a new record deal with Right Track Records, re-released a deluxe edition of their latest album Just Wanna Say, and played shows at Maryport Blues Festival.

The band will also be playing tracks from their two critically-acclaimed albums, Old Dogs ‘n’ Licks and Tautology, and some classic covers.

They line up with James Horrocks on bass guitar, Jon Firth on drums, Dave Turnbull on sax, Phil Barrett on keyboards and guitar, and, of course, Lol Goodman, himself, on guitar and lead vocals.

Lol has performed consistently in various bands and line-ups for more than four decades, including a 15-year spell working alongside James Horrocks where they have remained loyal to their blues rock roots.

Supporting will be up-and-coming Whitehaven band The Northern Threads, who have been gigging locally and building up a keen following for their brand of indie rock and roll covers.

Doors open at 7.30pm, and tickets are available from the venue's box office.
