ONE of British punk music’s biggest characters returns to Cumbria next month.

Bad Manners are still going strong and now into their fourth decade of creating Mod Mayhem with the front man himself, Buster Bloodvessel.

This legendary British ska band continue to tour all over the world, and on August 18 they will be heading to Whitehaven for a show at the Civic Hall.

Formed in the mid-Seventies at school as the ska phenomenon was kicking off, Buster and his schoolfriends created Bad Manners.

Bad Manners spent an unbelievable 111 weeks in the UK Singles Chart between 1980 and 1983, and all their albums achieved chart success.

Some of their more notable hits include My Girl Lollipop, Lip Up Fatty, Can Can, Special Brew and Walking In The Sunshine, which saw them feature on a wide variety of TV shows throughout the 80s.

They also released live videos and made many memorable Top Of The Pops appearances – but it has always been Bad Manners’ live performances that have made the band what it is today.

The new band then got down to touring colleges and universities throughout the country and headlined many scooter festivals, attracting regular crowds of 5,000.

This year marks their 40th anniversary in the business, and they are planning some treats to please their loyal fans.
