Ian Jackson, 56, of Workington, and Yvonne Farrell, 56, of Oughterside, have racked up more than 60 years of service between them, spending almost all of their careers working from Egremont Ambulance Station.
The retirees were presented with mementos by head of service Peter Mulcahy at Distington Ambulance Station and he paid tribute to their contribution.
He said: “They will be missed because they are valued colleagues with vast amounts of experience which you can’t replace quickly.
“We are always sorry to see staff retire and we pass on our massive thanks for the service they have given to the thousands of people they’ve served.”
Medical technician Ian, who is an avid speedway fan, plans to enjoy the summer before deciding what to do next.
He will devote more time to his hobbies like walking in the fells, listening to rock music and DIY work around the house.
He said: “I’ve got a lot of happy memories and no regrets. It’s been an education but I’ve enjoyed every second of it.”
Yvonne, who is a paramedic, added: “Like Ian, I’ve loved every minute of what has been a great career and I’ve made good friends.”
Yvonne will spend her new-found free time with family and friends, and at Workington Golf Club, where she has recently discovered a talent for golf.
Caroline Hastings, operations manager at NWAS, said: “They have been excellent to work with and they will really be missed. It will be strange them not being here.”
