LOOKING ahead to the vision and future plans for Whitehaven Academy is the aim of a parent forum.

Parents are invited to the event at the school on Tuesday, (September 27) from 6.30pm until 7.30pm.

It is being organised by Warren Turner, the academy's new head teacher.

The forum will give parents the opportunity "to hear about the exciting plans to move the school to good and outstanding", he said.

There will be also be chance for parents to meet Mr Turner and ask questions about the vision for the school.

Numerous forums have been held at the school since the start of term. The focus of this session will be to look ahead at future plans for the academy.

Other representatives from Bright Tribe, the trust that runs the academy, will not be at the meeting.

This week Mr Turner has spoken exclusively to The Whitehaven News about his commitment to the academy and putting “teaching at the heart of everything”.

It follows a turbulent few months with the sudden departure of the previous principal, Philip Grant, and growing concerns about how the Bright Tribe Trust runs the academy.

Mr Turner could not comment on these issues, but he said he wants to bring “stability and continuity” to the school.

“It’s about openness and transparency. It’s about building on our strengths and having an academy that the whole town can be proud of,” he said.
