A popular Whitehaven café has reopened after a six-week refurbishment.

Anna’s Bar and Kitchen on the Millennium Promenade on the harbourside has been redesigned, taking inspiration from the hygge trend, a Danish concept of contentedness.

Originally from Stockholm, owner Anna Lowe was inspired to bring the concept to Whitehaven. “We’ve stripped everything out and started again,” she said. “It’s completely different to what it was six weeks ago.

“Customers can expect a warm welcome from our new manager, Adam Fitzsimons, and our front-of-house team.

“After fitting a new bar and kitchen we decided to give our food and drink menus a total overhaul too.

“We’re now serving a great selection of cocktails, as well as draught and bottled beer.”

She added: “Our new chef, Nathan Maguire, can’t wait to show off his skills by creating delicious burgers, exciting sharers and breakfasts. And we’re delighted to be serving locally-roasted coffee, supplied by West Cumbrian roasters Carvetii.”
