Egremont charity to get Sellafield funds

SELLAFIELD Ltd has anchosen The Charlie and Kathleen Dunnery Children’s Fund, which works with children in the Egremont area, as is its chosen charity for 2007.
The Fund raises money for children's health and educational needs in and around of Egremont.
All its income goes directly to the causes it supports. Since its inception in 2002, the charity has raised tens of thousands of pounds for children’s schools and The West Cumberland Hospital.
The beneficiary of the Fund for 2007 was Orgill School in Egremont and the school will be presented with a cheque next month.
Cheryl Ireland, community relations officer for Sellafield Ltd, said; “We have a charity of the year every year and the fact that we have chosen the Charlie and Kathleen Dunnery Children’s Fund this year is testament to the hard work that one our employees, Mark Andrews, puts in to raise funds for it.
The fund will receive £2,007 from Sellafield Ltd, cash generated over the course of a series of events held by employees over the year. Next year, the chosen charity will get £2,008.
