Tanker blocks road

FIREFIGHTERS stood by as a tanker carrying 18 tons of kerosene had to be emptied after it became stuck in a verge on the Blackbeck-Haile road, near Egremont.
The road was closed for three hours on Wednesday, last week after the tanker had moved to its nearside to let an oncoming vehicle pass, at about 1.25pm. Police then shut the road for three hours and other tankers had to be brought in to transfer the fuel before the lorry could be recovered.
