A595 Gridlock worsens
Last updated 13:45, Monday, 01 December 2008
Highways engineers have closed one of the alternative routes for road commuters and a third set of traffic lights at Blackbeck for four days.
As two sets of traffic lights maintain a stranglehold on the main trunk route to and from Whitehaven and Sellafield, the situation has worsened this week with closure of one of the alternative routes.
The Highways Hotline confirmed that the Pica Moor route is to be closed from December 1-8 for repairs.
The Whitehaven News understands that the Lillyhall by-pass will be open for cars on December 17.
