A WHITEHAVEN man shouted abuse at a judge who jailed him for theft.
Scott Underwood, 20, of Coniston Road, Whitehaven, was visibly distressed when District Judge Gerald Chalk sentenced him to 42 days.
Underwood had previously admitted stealing £300 cash from his great-aunt, Madeline McCartney and falsely using her cash card. Two other withdrawals of £300 were also taken into consideration.
District Judge Chalk told the defendant his offences were so serious, having breached the trust of a vulnerable woman, that custody was the only option.
Underwood then shouted abuse at the judge while being led away from Whitehaven magistrates.
