Action-packed fun for all

A MOBILE climbing wall, paint balling and DJ workshops were all on the agenda at the second Cleator Moor Fun For All Day organised by the Phoenix Youth Project.
Up to 300 people braved the wet weather to support the event, held in Cleator Moor Civic Hall and outside on the Market Square, to enjoy the free activities on offer.
Other attractions included a circus, bouncy castle, rodeo bull and mobile disco, while both the army and fire service were in attendance to educate as well as entertain the visitors.
A number of young people who attend the Phoenix Youth Project in Cleator Moor and Frizington helped with the smooth running of the day and gained Rewards for Actions Point, which can later be cashed in for upcoming trips.
“The aims of the day were to inform young people and members of the community of the services and activities on offer in Cleator Moor and its surrounding areas,” said Paul Rowe, youth development officer for Phoenix.
“The day also provided the opportunity to celebrate the local area whilst bringing the generations together to have fun and mix with one another.
“The Phoenix Youth Project would like to thank both Cleator Moor and Arlecdon and Frizington Joint Neighbourhood Forums, as well as Cleator Moor Town Council, for their generous financial support for the fun day.
“Furthermore, we would like to thank Arthur Baxter for his voluntary support in organising the day and for supplying a disco for the event, and to all those who helped make the day a real success.”
The Phoenix Youth Project is always looking for further support from the community through seeking volunteers to help with the running of the two youth centres in Cleator Moor and Frizington.
Frizington Youth Centre is open Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings and Crossfield Community Centre, Cleator Moor is open every Tuesday and Thursday evening.
