Internet safety tips

CHILDREN can often be at risk on social networking websites, as they are prone to exposure to people with less than friendly intentions. To protect your children, ensure you:

Help your children understand what information should be kept private.

Explain that kids should only post information they are comfortable with people seeing.

Use privacy settings to restrict who can access your child’s website.

Make your child avoid unsuitable conversations, and report any abuse.

Encourage your child to talk about what he/she accesses on the internet – they’ll be more inclined to report anyone that made them feel uncomfortable.

Talk to other parents about rules they have for their children.
