Workington Reds’ iconic new strips have been revealed by strike partners Jonny Wright and Gareth Arnison.

With the club’s logo imprinted on the back, the Borough Park club have ended their association with kit maker Umbro and signed a deal which O’Neills, which has seen them receive the team’s home kit for free.

Workington’s supporters’ club has also made a donation to pay for the away shirts.

Ex-director Keith Nelson, who is volunteering at Reds, was responsible for the design. He said: “We have already had a lot of interest and taking around 50 orders from supporters.

“I tried to move the shirts away from being just the traditional football jersey. I wanted to make them more appealing to the general public.

“We have gone for a look which is very marketable and is aimed at the retail trade.

“It’s vital that football clubs try and branch out into the leisure industry, and make the most of their product.”

The shirts cost £39.99 for adults and £29.99 for juniors, and are expected to be on sale by June 22.

Workington are also planning to launch a leisure range with hoodies, sweatshirts and polo shirts available.
