New riding order for Workington Comets against Redcar

Workington Comets will unveil a new riding order in their first match in nearly two weeks against Redcar Bears tonight.

The original League Cup clash was called off in April due to rain but the rearranged fixture will favour the Comets as Kenny Ingalls will return after more than a month out with injury.

The Comets will also show off their new order with Kyle Howarth at number four while Adam Roynon has dropped to reserve.

Team manager Tony Jackson said: “It is a big boost to have Kenny back because he scored 17 there last year. He has been out for a month but he is itching to get back.

“I don’t think the new riding order makes any difference as Kyle has been brilliant at reserve and with Adam there he will be one of the strongest reserves in the league.

“I had a chat with Kyle and captain Richard Lawson about the change and we thought number two was one of the hardest positions in the team.

“Not a lot of people like riding there and we didn’t think it would be fair on Kyle to put him there because he is still young and inexperienced.

“We think Richard will look after him and after speaking to Kyle we think number four is the best place for him so we will have to see how he goes.”

Workington’s scheduled first Premier League match with Somerset due to take place on May 11 has now been rearranged for August 17 to allow the Rebels to fit in the rest of their League cup fixtures.
