A NEW Indian restaurant has opened in Cockermouth.
Indigo Indian was opened in Old Kings Arms Lane on Wednesday by Kaddus and Ata Miah.
Kaddus said they had been looking to open a restaurant in the town for the past two years.
Ata said: “We have a restaurant in Carlisle but when we visited Cockermouth in the past we thought it was a very nice town and there was the market for another Indian restaurant here.
“It is a nice little alleyway for the restaurant with shops below it. The design and layout is perfect for us and we think it will be a good tourist attraction with the mix of the restaurant and shops.”
The restaurant, in the former premises of Clooney’s Bar and Grill, will employ up to seven people.
It will be open from 6pm to 11pm Mondays to Saturdays and 3pm to 11pm on Sundays.
