Mischief-free night as 700 pile on to Selandia

HALLOWEEN mischief was at an all-time low last night as 700 youngsters packed on to the Princess Selandia in Barrow docks.

Inspector Kevin Spedding said there were a few incidents involving eggs and fireworks but these were minimal.

This was the second year the Blue Lagoon nightclub on board the Selandia opened its doors to schoolchildren, handing out more than 1,000 free tickets for the popular themed night.

Insp Spedding said: “About 700 went to the event on the Princess Selandia, which is about a third up on last year.

“There was some minor disorder near the boat but nothing of significance.

“It was quite similar to last year in terms of disorder – just a few incidents involving fireworks or eggs and these were dealt with positively by officers.

“I want to thank parents for passing on our message to their children not to cause a nuisance.

“If we compare last night to a few years ago we just don’t have the same amount of disorder we used to.”
