A Cumbrian mother who was found hanged at her home took her own life, a coroner ruled.

The verdict follows a two-day inquest into the death of 21-year-old, Alexandra Thompson, of Main Street, Hensingham, Whitehaven.
It heard she had been admitted to the Yewdale Ward at West Cumberland Hospital on May 25 last year and had been granted weekend leave starting on June 3. She was found dead at her home two days later, after the hospital crisis team were unable to get hold of her.
Coroner David Roberts said he was satisfied “beyond reasonable doubt” that she intended to take her own life.
Following her death, an investigation was conducted and nine recommendations were put to Cumbria Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. These suggested changes in policies for risk assessments for patients, training staff and putting together more detailed care plans for patients.
Mr Roberts said: “The trust has set out a number of recommendations and have taken them on board.
“It seems to me that there is nothing further I can add that would be useful.”
